Masters in Occupational Therapy in 1983 from Texas Woman’s University. Hand Therapy Certification in 1991. . Certification in Dr. Vodder’s Manual Lymph Drainage and Combined Decongestive Therapy in 1997 . Certified Kinesio Taping Instructors in 1998 . “Instructor of the Year” at the first USA Kinesio Taping Conference in 2004 for her work in the area of lymphedema. Massage Therapy Certification in 2006. Zero Balancing Certification in 2015. Coopee received her certification in the Dr. Vodder method through the North American Vodder School International in May 1997. Since completion she has had experience in the treatment of lower extremity venous insufficiency, wound management, post cancer and lymphedema. Her passion lies in post mastectomy and reconstruction and had started a program at Largo Medical Center until they closed the outpatient rehab department.
Since certification in Manual Lymph Drainage in 1997 Ms Coopee developed several Lymphedema Clinics in Massachusetts. Guest speaker at the 15th Annual Kinesio Taping International Symposium held in Tokyo Japan, November 1999 presented preliminary research on use of Kinesio Taping for Lymphedema. She was also guest speaker and instructor at the Australian Lymphology Congress in Fremantle Australia in 2007 . Articles regarding her work and research were featured in OT and PT Advance in 1998. She teaches nationally and internationally on her "Techniques for Elastic Sports Taping" and authored magazine articles and written two chapters on the use of Kinesio Taping for hand and upper quadrant; “Kinesio Taping” in the Mosby 5th edition of Rehabilitation of the Hand & Upper Extremity by Mackin et al which details some of the mechanisms of Kinesio Taping and Splinting the Hand and Upper Extremity-Principles and Process (Lippincott Williams and Wilkins) by Jacobs and Austin that discusses Athletic, McConnell and Kinesio Taping techniques for the Upper Extremity.
Ruth Coopee has had training in a variety of whole body, gentle techniques to work with the neurological, structural, muscular and energy systems of the body. She integrates all of these in an atmosphere of peacefulness to restore the spirit. Her interest is centered around self healing and promoting a combination of "eastern/western" approach centering on the Whole Person. She provides the complete umbrella of self supporting care to help you with your specific needs whether recuperating from acute injury, post surgery or dealing with a chronic problem.
